The new Nikon SB-5000 has been redesigned which brings radio frequency control to their famous Advanced Wreless Creative Lighting System. The Nikon SB-5000 is equipped with a new flash cooling system which allow up to 100 consecutive full-power flashes. The new design also make the Nikon SB-5000 slightly smaller than previous predecessor Nikon SB-910.
Nikon SB-5000 provides a powerful guide number of 55m at ISO 100 and 200mm (or 34.5m at ISO 100 and 35mm) and is fully compatible with Nikon’s i-TTL. Thanks for the radio frequency wireless control, Nikon SB-5000 can control up to 6 groups of compatible flashes from 30 metres away without requiring line of sight. For maximum versatility, the Nikon SB-5000 is fully compatible with existing optical triggering method of older units.
The head of the Nikon SB-5000 tilts from -7 to +90 degree and rotates left and right 180 degree. This flash unit provides a wide range of zoom from 24mm to 200mm with built-in diffusion panel allows extending down to 14mm. It also supports most of popular sync modes include slow sync, HSS, 1st and 2nd curtain sync.
In addition, the flash has quick recycle time of 1.8-2.6 seconds and runs on 4x AA batteries with optional external power pack.
